Sharon (Sherie) Lynn Hill Estes, 71, passed away on April 2, 2026, after a long illness. Sherie was a life-long resident of Hurricane, WV and Charleston, WV. She was a 1973 graduate of Hurricane High School and attended University of Charleston to complete her nursing degree. She was retired from Highland Hospital where she spent many years caring for and serving patients.
Sherie was born February 11, 1955. She was the daughter of the late James “Frank” Hill and the late Peggy Marie Montgomery Johnson. She was the stepdaughter of the late James E. Johnson.
She is survived by her beloved daughter Ashley Lynn Estes of Charleston, WV, her cherished grandson Isaiah Blake Slone of Charleston, WV, and her loving sister Robin Hill Vickers (Frank Vickers) of Georgetown, TX. Sherie is also survived by John Estes of Charleston, WV, whose relationship may have changed but their deep and loving friendship did not. Other important people in Sherie’s life are her aunt Anna Ventura of Hurricane WV, stepsister Laura Johnson of Greensboro NC, and stepbrother Robert Johnson of Panama City FL.
Sherie remained a life-long member of the First Baptist Church of Hurricane. The family wants to thank Charleston Healthcare Center and CAMC General Hospital for the excellent care she received. The care shown to Sherie and the family is deeply appreciated.
As we mourn our loss, we also celebrate a life well-lived—full of compassion, laughter, and love. Sherie was known for her kindness, generosity and commitment to her friends and family. Sherie was a supporter of our military.
