Evelyn Ann Robertson

Evelyn Robertson, age 92, of Charlotte, NC, passed away on May 31, after a short illness.
She was born in Brushton, West Virginia and grew up in Glasgow, on the banks of the Kanawha River. She graduated from East Bank High School, attended the Methodist Church, located just down the street from her home. Evelyn was a faithful Christian throughout her life.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, Tom and Eva Poole, her husband Jack G. Robertson; sister Kay Mann; brother Bob Poole; beloved son, Thomas Linton Robertson; and her granddaughter Brittany Gardiner Robertson (daughter of Joe and Patti Robertson).
Evelyn married Jack Geary Robertson on Saturday, August 23, 1952 at the Baptist Temple in Charleston, WV. They built their first home in Pinch, WV, and later moved to Clendenin, WV, where she lived most of her adult life. While in Clendenin, she was actively involved in public service, serving as the town’s Recorder and later as Mayor from 1996 to 2001. After her husband’s passing in 1998, she moved several times to be closer to family, living in Canaan Valley, WV; Wilmington, NC, Charlotte, NC; Heber City, UT; and ultimately spending her final years in Charlotte.
She treasured being the mother of four children and is survived by three of them: Ann Fiery (Mike) of Charlotte, NC, John Robertson (Aleen) of Salt Lake City, UT and Joe (Patti) of Milledgeville, GA, with Thomas deceased. She is survived by eight grandchildren and seven greatgrandchildren. In addition, she is survived by her sister, Betty Howe of Des Plaines, IL, and her brother Steve Poole (Barbara) of Tallahassee, FL.
A private family memorial service will be held in Charlotte. She will be laid to rest beside her husband in the Robertson Cemetery on Thorofare Road, Clendenin, WV.
