Mr. Marion Peter King, 85, of Leon, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, June 27, 2026, with his loving family by his side.
Born and raised in Clay County, Marion was a retired diesel mechanic who was known for his strong work ethic and quiet nature. In his spare time, he enjoyed working word searches, woodworking, gardening, and had a lifelong fascination with trains, especially steam engines. He also had a special love for animals, particularly his dogs and his beloved cat, Mary Ann.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Nancy King; his children, Marion “Duke” King, Nancy Moore, and John King; his parents, Homer and Ina King; and his half-sister, Roseman.
Left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Ina (David) Moore; daughter-in-law, Sandy King; son-in-law, Carlos Moore; his siblings, John King, Shelby (Ann) King, Thomas King, and Ruth (Paul) Tanner; five grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
Marion will be remembered for his hardworking spirit, his love of family, and the simple pleasures that brought him joy throughout his life.
In keeping with his wishes, there will be no services.
