It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Shirley Ann Oxyer, 73, of Cross Lanes, West Virginia, on June 26, 2026.
Shirley was a loving mother, grandmother, family member, and friend whose kindness, strength, and unwavering love touched the lives of everyone who knew her. She was always willing to lend a helping hand and found her greatest happiness in caring for those she loved.
She was preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband, Lenders “Ox” Oxyer, and her brother, Ernie Postlethwait, of Poca, West Virginia.
Shirley worked at Walmart until her retirement, where she was known for her dedication and strong work ethic.
The greatest joy in Shirley’s life was spending time with her beloved grandson, Colten Postlethwait. Whether cheering him on at his four-wheeler races, enjoying family vacations, helping him with school, or simply sitting together on the couch watching a movie, every moment they shared meant the world to her. Their bond was truly special, and the memories they created together will be cherished forever.
Shirley is survived by her mother, Mary Postlethwait, of Poca, West Virginia; her son, Chris Postlethwait, of Cross Lanes, West Virginia; her cherished grandson, Colten Postlethwait, of Cross Lanes, West Virginia; her brothers, Ted Postlethwait, of Hurricane, West Virginia, James Postlethwait, of Liberty, West Virginia, and Everett Postlethwait, of Poca, West Virginia; along with many other family members and friends who will forever hold her memory close to their hearts.
In accordance with her wishes, Shirley will be cremated. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date, with details to be announced.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and hospital staff who cared for Shirley with compassion, kindness, and dignity during her final days.
Shirley is finally reunited with the love of her life, Ox, and her memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
