Ralph Eugene Lynch, 85, passed away Tuesday, July 15, 2026, at the Hubbard Hospice House, resting in the hands of our Heavenly Father.
He was born and raised in the town of Clendenin, West Virginia. He was a graduate of Clendenin High School, Class of 1958.
He was preceded in death by his parents Glen (Blinker) and Lillian Samples Lynch, his beloved grandson Justin Cade Lynch, his brother Charles Lynch and his loving wife of 49 1/2 yrs, Juliet Rhodes Lynch.
He is survived by sons Carlton Lynch (Rhonda) and Darrell Flint (Barbara); beloved granddaughters Brandi Jones (Bobby), Catie Flint and Jessica Town (Christopher); great-granddaughter Sofiah Town; great-grandson Tre Town; sister-in-law Rita Lynch; special niece Lisa Shamblin (Terry); special daughter-in-law Mary Perry; and several nieces and nephews that were very dear to him.
Mr. Lynch was a man of many talents. He was an accomplished pianist. He was church pianist and organist at Clendenin Advent Christian Church for 30+ years. He was pianist and organist for 14+ years at Brawley Chapel United Methodist Church, which was his family’s legacy. He also substituted in several other churches over the years.
He studied piano starting at 10 years old. He later in his crazy midlife studied piano, organ and other musical classes again at Morris Harvey College (now University of Charleston). He was a successful retired realtor, GRI with over 20 years service. He retired at the age of 80 in 2020. He managed the Clendenin Senior Citizens lunch program for a time. He was an acclaimed retired florist, working for the top floral shops in Charleston for several years. He then owned and operated Lynch Floral Center in Clendenin for many years. After he sold that business, he opened Bigley Avenue Flowers in Charleston and operated that shop for several years until the business was sold. Believe it or not, he even taught ballroom dancing in the ’60s! He taught for Arthur Murray Dance Studio and Jim and Ann Lucas Dance Studio. He was truly a hard worker, even at a young age. He started mowing lawns when he was big enough to push a lawn mower and also delivered newspapers. He loved life and was a devout Christian.
A funeral service will be held at Clendenin United Methodist Church on Tuesday July 21, 2026, with Pastor Stewart Cottrell officiating. Visitation will be from 11: 00am – 1:00pm with the funeral following immediately after at 1:00 pm. Entombment will be in Elk Hills Memorial Gardens mausoleum beside his beloved wife Juliet.
