Derrell Dewayne Donalson age 93 of Teays Valley Place, Scott, Depot, WV, formally of Poca, WV entered Heaven after passing away peacefully on August 3, 2026. He was born July 14, 1933 in Spencer, WV to the late Ala Donalson Hall.
Derrell graduated from Nitro High School in 1952. He was a lifetime fan of the Poca Dots, WVU Mountaineers, Marshall Thundering Herd and Cincinnati Reds. He loved the outdoors especially going hunting and fishing. In addition, he was a staunch conservative and member of the Republican party. He proudly served his country in the US Air Force from 1953-57.
In the late 1960’s Derrell worked with Poca Youth Midget League Basketball and Minor League Baseball. He donated many hours working with the youth in the community.
At Carbide, Derrell approached his job with integrity and took pride knowing all details of his job. He especially enjoyed working with his co-workers during his tenure. Derrell retired after 37 years of service at Union Carbide Institute Plant in the Acetone Unit. During his time there he was a Forman and Operator.
Derrell was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Auline Donalson. He is survived by his son Vic Donalson (Sandy) and daughter Pam Carnell (Dave-deceased) also his granddaughters, Kaitlyn Donalson of Coraopolis PA and Ashley Carnell of Columbus OH and a host of family and friends.
The family would like to thank the employees of Teays Valley Place, especially the Aides that worked closely with him over the last 4 years, your love, caring, and thoughtfulness will not be forgotten.
Services will be held on Saturday August 8th at 12 PM at Haven of Rest Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 11-12 PM
