Brenda Lee Alderman-Foster, age 68 passed away on November 2, 2026, at CAMC Memorial Hospital in Charleston, West Virginia.
Brenda was born November 14, 1957, in Charleston, WV, a daughter of the late James W. Alderman and Jewel A. Alderman-Foster.
Brenda loved her family above all else throughout her life. As a young woman, she not only raised her two daughters, but she also stepped in when needed as a mother figure to nieces, nephews, and a few others who had no blood relation.
She took on the role of leader for a Girl Scout troop in her community when her children were young and refused to turn away any child who wanted to join. She would quietly take care of any fees that arose for any child whose family could not afford it—not because she was asked or expected to, but simply because that was who she was. They had a troop of around forty girls that she worked hard with to do as much as they could. They sold cookies and raised money to do activities all around the state with other troops from across the country. From camping to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles-themed mall lock-ins, Litter Olympics to spending a scientific night at COSI in Ohio, and planting pine trees for Earth Day at Virginia’s Chapel in Cedar Grove that still stands today, she touched the lives of many young girls along the way. She was integral in making memories that have lasted a lifetime for many young girls and their families.
Brenda’s work life revolved around family as well. She worked alongside her mother Jewel, sister Debbie, and brothers Jay and Timmy at Gino’s in Belle, WV, and the surrounding area for years. They recruited every family member who was willing to work and created their own Gino’s family dynasty. The family grew, literally, with marriages and births from relationships nurtured at Gino’s Pizza, and once you were old enough to work, they were more than willing to put you to work. Nine out of ten cousins in the area started working at Gino’s as their first job, and once they got you on payroll, they did not want to let you go. By the time Jewel retired from Gino’s and Brenda took over the manager position, they had three generations of family working together to keep the store up to their standards, with the next generation growing up listening to stories about the infamous Gino’s family dynasty.
Brenda, known dearly as Nanny by her grandchildren, loved her family fiercely. She was involved in the lives of all six of her grandchildren from day one, and her love continued to grow when she was blessed with three great-grandsons. Anyone who spoke to her could see the unconditional love and pride she had for each and every one of them.
In addition to her parents, Brenda was preceded in death by her great-grandson Remington Blake Foster ; brother James “Jay” W. Alderman and sister Debra “Debbie” Shelton (Larry Shelton).
Brenda is survived and will be missed tremendously by her ex-husband, caregiver, and lifelong partner, Ervin “Delbert” D. Foster; daughters Brandy L. Dremonas (Brian Rider) and Tiffani R. Hundley (Donny Hundley); grandchildren Siarra N. Dremonas, Destiny N. Hundley, Christopher “Chris” E. Foster, Faith M. Hundley, Hope R. Hundley, and Hailey L. Rider; great-grandchildren Hunter J. Price, Brandon L. Price;brother Timothy “Timmy” Alderman; sister Thelma Fox; and an extended number of nieces and nephews who affectionately knew her as “Aunt Benna” since childhood.
Brenda’s family would like to give special thanks to the entire care team, even the ones not assigned to Brenda ; on the 5th floor CPICU at CAMC Memorial Hospital for the care they gave Brenda and the family during this difficult time. We could not have asked for a better team to take care of her during her final days. We would also like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Smith and Andrew , who took the time to answer, explain, and comfort each and every family member who was fortunate enough to speak to them. You both will forever be remembered fondly by all us.
