James Richard “Jim” Colvin, age 81, passed away peacefully at home while receiving hospice care, surrounded by love.

Jim was born in Portsmouth, Ohio, to the late James Thomas Colvin and Zelma Rosina Colvin. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Carolyn McClelland.

Jim is survived by his loving wife, Rosemary A. Colvin, and his brother, Robert Colvin. He was a devoted father to six children: Tiffany Francis, Tanya Slone, Valerie Langhirt, Scott Jones, Stacy Priddy, and Shavana McDowell. He was a grandfather to 14 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

Jim retired from Airgas Mid America, where he worked as an Area Manager. He was known for his strong work ethic, leadership, and dedication throughout his career. He loved spending time fishing, tinkering on projects around the house, and—just as much—he enjoyed being the mischievous supervisor who enjoyed observing others as they worked. Whether offering advice, lending a hand, or simply keeping an eye on things, Jim always liked to stay busy and involved.

Jim will be remembered for his love of tinkering, his playful teasing, and his need to be part of everything that was going on. He enjoyed supervising us all, making sure things were done “just right,” and sharing a laugh along the way. His humor, presence, and loving involvement in the lives of those around him will be deeply missed.

In accordance with his wishes, no formal services will be held at this time.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Hospice Care of Charleston, West Virginia, in appreciation of the compassionate care and support they provided.

Affordable Cremations of West Virginia is honored to serve the Colvin Family during this difficult time.
