James Edwin Cox, 77, of Elkview, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, on Wednesday, February 11, 2026.
He is preceded in death by his parents, James M. & Oreta Parsons Cox, and brother, Jackie Cox.
James was a loving son, husband, father, grandfather, and brother. He attended Elkview Jr. High & Herbert Hoover High School, where he excelled as a track & field athlete, and set many records in multiple events. He worked for the Boiler Maker Union and was an ordained pastor for Harmony Baptist Church in Roane County. James enjoyed hunting, camping, and was a member of the Gold Wing Motorcycle Club and traveled the United States. He also built “Trikes” for his self-owned business, TRI-KING Industries of WV. James retired from the United States Postal Service as a letter carrier. James was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church and was a very special to his family and friends. He will be missed by all who knew him!
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Karen Cox; son, Thomas (Rachael) Cox; daughters, Tammy (Brian) Millard and Taunya Wimer (Donnie); brothers, Jesse Cox & Joseph Cox; sisters, Sandra Payne & Sherry Cox (Jeri); seven grandchildren; and sixteen great grandchildren.
A graveside service will begin 1:00pm, Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at Elk Hills Memorial Park, with Pastor Lee Swor officiating.
