Gary Sigman, Sr.

Heaven welcomed a faithful servant when Gary Anson Sigman, Sr., of Poca, WV, passed into eternity on March 12, 2026. Born May 4, 1940, in Poca, WV. Gary was the son of the late Laurel Anson and Thelma Dove Sigman.

Gary was a devoted man of God. He graduated from Poca High School where he met the love of his life, Valjean. Gary retired from American Electric Power following 24 years of faithful service. Gary served on the Bancroft City Council and was a member of the North Putnam Service District Board. Gary was a 32° Mason.

A devout Christian all his life, in his early years, Gary was a faithful member of Bancroft Church of God Mission where he carried out the duties of deacon. Gary also attended Grace Baptist Temple and Sweetwater Branch Baptist Church – while residing in Mrytle Beach – where he always found friends and loved worshipping the Lord.

After retirement, Gary enjoyed spending time with his sons and their families, working with his son’s company, hunting deer and knife making. One of Gary’s greatest joys was playing with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Gary is survived by his wife of 67 years, Valjean Sigman; children Gary, Jr. and Kim Sigman of Rock Hill, SC, and Brian and Polly Sigman of Poca, WV; grandchildren Tyler and Kelsey Sigman of Fort Mill, SC, Brian Anthony and Becca Sigman of Hurricane, WV, Tanner Sigman and Darcy Irish of Austin, TX, and Adam and Allison Sigman of Poca, WV; great-grandchildren Blayke, Miles, and Drew Sigman, Summer and Piper Sigman, and Sadie Sigman; brother Marvin and Anita Sigman and sister Susie and Glen Phalen; brother-in-law Dallas and Retha Burkhammer and sister-in-law Nadine Harlow; cherished cousin Mike and Iris Creasy along with nephews and nieces.

The visitation for Gary will be from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm on Sunday March 15, 2026, at Gatens-Harding Funeral Home in Poca, WV, followed by the funeral at 3:00 pm. Burial will follow in Haven of Rest Memory Gardens, Red House, WV.
