Dora “Sis” Lewvenia Wheeler
Dora “Sis” Lewvenia Wheeler was born January 8, 1943, at home in Putney, West Virginia near Cambells’ Creek. Putney was a very small mining town that flourished between 1902 and 1948. She left this life on March 21, 2026. Sis was always very proud that she shared a birthday with one of her favorite entertainers, Elvis Presley.
She began working at age 14 and kept the same profession her entire life, as a server in a restaurant and working her way up to management for Quality Inn Hotels. Sis loved her family, and spending time with them for gatherings and celebrations. Sis will be greatly missed by those that knew her.
She was preceded in death by her mother Lillie Ada Keaton, father William Ray Elswick, brother Dallis Preston Elswick, sisters Joyce Ann Wiseman, and Wanda Faye Wiseman and by her husband William “Bill” Wheeler.
She is survived by her brother James “Buck” Keaton (Mark J. Reinhart), her sister Marilyn K. Keaton (Michael Dolan) and by numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be at 11:00am on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at Hafer Funeral Home with Pastor Victor Keathley. Burial will follow at Keaton Cemetery in Blue Creek, WV.
Visitation will be from 6:00pm-8:00pm on Friday, March 27, 2026, at Hafer Funeral Home.
