JoAnn West Berry Skiles, LPN-PH, born on August 13, 1955, in Charleston, West Virginia, passed away on March 25, 2026. She was a longtime resident of Seth, West Virginia, where she was known for her kindness, strength, and the love she shared with all who knew her.
JoAnn loved being around people and helping others. She had an infectious laugh and a way of making everyone feel at ease when she was around. JoAnn thrived as a nurse, working as an LPN-PH at CAMC General Hospital for over 15 years, until health issues prevented her from continuing. She was a devoted member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness and loved her brothers and sisters there very much, reflecting her deep faith and commitment to her spiritual community. Although suffering through a myriad of health issues, JoAnn’s faith and service to Jehovah never wavered. She touched many lives over the years and leaves behind a legacy of warmth, compassion, and dedicated service. Her memory will be cherished by family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
JoAnn was preceded in death by her mother, Ora Jane Nolf, and son Little Jackie Berry. She is survived by her father, Claude West; her sisters, Connie Cummings and Stacy Pruett; her brother, Claude West, Jr.; her son, Robert “Robby” (Dianna) Berry; her daughters, Angela James and Shannon Parker; many cherished grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews; and special friends Jackie Berry, Sharon Hudson, and Steve Burford.
There will be a celebration of life on Saturday, April 4th, 2026, at the Kingdom Hall located behind the McDonalds in Smithers, WV. Visitation will begin at 1130am with services commencing at 12pm. If you cannot attend, Zoom will be available. Meeting ID: 98546485236 Password: 020992
