Loyd Edward “De” DeJarnett, 92, of Charleston departed this life, Sunday, May 31, 2026 at home surrounded by his loving family.
De was born September 4, 1933 in Francisco, IN. A son of the late, Glenn and Opha (Allberry) DeJarnett. Also preceding him in death are his beloved wife, Betty Jo (Lockard) DeJarnett; siblings, Melbourn, Betty and Jean; brother-in-law, Bob; sisters-in-law, Tootsie and Nancy, and surviving him are sisters-in-law, Mary and Joy.
Also left to cherish De’s memory include his loving children and daughters-in-law, Jeff DeJarnett (Beverly), Jerry DeJarnett (Beth) and David DeJarnett (Dana); grandchildren, Hanna, Sara, Claire, Paige, Jake, Sam, Derek, Jessie, and Holly; great grandchildren, Lane, TJ, Kooper, Joli Nevaeh and Milli; as well as a host of other family and friends.
De enjoyed time with his family cherishing each new generation. He was happiest during the quiet times with his loved ones, and when loudly cheering on the Mountaineers.
De was a man of deep faith who trusted in Jesus Christ as his Lord and savior through the joys and challenges of life. He fought the good fight, finished the race, and kept the faith. Because of his faith in Christ, he has joined his beloved wife in the presence of the Lord. Seeing with his own eyes the glory he trusted in.
De served his country in the US Navy. He was a dedicated employee of Jefferds Corporation for 45 years as parts manager and secretary of the company. De was an active leader and administrator of the Loudendale Freewill Baptist Church for many years.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, June 4, 2026, at Good Shepherd Mortuary, South Charleston. Family and friends will gather for a time of visitation one hour prior to the service at the mortuary. Loyd will be laid to rest privately in the Mount Alpha Cemetery, Charleston.
