Sgt Roy Jackson Miller Jr, a decorated US Army Veteran of the 101st Airborne Division and Special Forces (Green Berets) passed away peacefully on June 3rd, 2026, at Hubbard Hospice House, at the age of 72.
Roy was a F-100 Medic and spent some time in the later parts of the Vietnam campaign. After the military Roy worked as a coal miner and a Head Tapper with Elkem Metals. He greatly enjoyed the outdoors and time with family.
Roy is survived by his daughters Michelle and husband Michael and Jessica and husband Jason; his grandchildren JJ, Cienna, Levi, Noah, Bethany, and Jacob; his brothers Robert and wife Karen and Stanley and wife Kathy; sisters Brenda and husband Eugene and Dana and husband Roderick; and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by the mother of his daughters Wanda Smith.
He was preceded in death by his parents Roy J. and Doris Miller, his wife Wilma Miller; and his granddaughter Angel.
A Celebration of Roy’s life will be held on Monday, June 8th, 2026, at 1:00 pm at Cooke Funeral Home, Nitro, WV with Military Honors following at Donel C. Kinnard Memorial State Veterans Cemetery, Dunbar, WV at 2:00 pm. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home
