Shirley Ann Tinsley Bowling, 90, of Walkertown, North Carolina, formerly of Poca, West Virginia, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 9, 2026.

Shirley was a woman of many talents and simple joys. She found great happiness in quilting, gardening, reading, and watching her favorite television program, Gunsmoke. Alongside her beloved husband, Howard, she enjoyed woodworking and crafting, creating cherished memories through the years they spent together. Above all else, Shirley treasured time with her family. Her greatest joy was being surrounded by those she loved, and the memories she created with them will remain a lasting gift.

She was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 55 years, Howard Bowling; her parents, Franklin and Vernedda Tinsley; and her brother, Daniel Tinsley.

Left to cherish her memory are her loving children, Bob Bowling and his wife, Vicki; Cindy Andrew; and Jimmy Bowling and his wife, Ann. She is also survived by her sister, Irene Rosiek.

Shirley was a proud grandmother to Stacy and her husband, John; Rob; Amy and her husband, Randy; Jackie; Julie and her husband, Chris; T.J. Bowling; Katie Bowling and her husband, Dustin; Brody Bowling and his wife, Tabitha; and Chase Bowling and his wife, Hannah.

Her legacy continues through her beloved great-grandchildren: Hunter, Blake, Aiden, Zoe, Ava, Alex, Raiden, Kyler, Elijah, Silas, Jessa, and Stella, all of whom brought immense joy to her life.

A celebration and tribute to Shirley’s life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at Gatens-Harding Funeral Home Chapel in Poca, with Pastor Delbert Hawley officiating. Burial will follow at Grandview Memorial Park in Dunbar.

Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to the service, from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m., at the funeral home.
