Mrs. Virginia Board, 86, of Nitro, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 2, 2026.
Born on October 28, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Bill and Lilly Wilson. A 1957 graduate of Nitro High School, Virginia devoted her life to her family as a homemaker, always making sure those she loved were well cared for. She found joy in watching movies, sharing stories, preparing delicious meals, and bringing laughter to those around her with her warm sense of humor.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Andy Board, Sr.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory her four children, Andy Board, John Board, Bob Board, and Rema Jordan; seven grandchildren, Chase, Sarah, Justin, Nick, Leighanna, Hannah, and Brandon; nine great-grandchildren, Noah, Blake, Owen, Lucy, Austin, Colton, Gabby, Shelby, and Gavin; and her sister-in-law, Catherine (Doug) Burford, along with many extended family members and friends who will miss her dearly.
A tribute to Virginia’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at Gatens-Harding Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Delbert Hawley officiating. Burial will follow at Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens, Cross Lanes. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the funeral home.
Virginia’s love, kindness, and devotion to her family will forever be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
