Mazie Emogene (Preast) Mullins received her final reward and entered the gates of Heaven on Saturday evening, July 11, 2026. She is now home with her Heavenly Father, as well as many friends and family members.
Mazie was born on March 14, 1924 in Nicholas County WV.
She accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior at the age of 17, and she remained a faithful servant of Him the rest of her life.
At the start of WWII, at the age of 17 she and a friend left their homes and headed to Akron OH for jobs at the Goodyear Aircraft Plant. Because of her age, she had to get written consent from her parents. She did so because she felt a strong sense of responsibility to help our Country and the Soldiers in the war effort. She became a riveter on the wings of war planes being built at Goodyear. She said she loved her job and remained there until the end of the war.
After WWII ended, she returned to WV where she met and married the love of her life, Wilbur Mullins. They settled on their small farm at Queen Shoals, in Clay County WV. As well as farm work, Wilbur also was a coal miner.
Mazie and Wilbur had six children.
She was a great wife, mother and homemaker, also doing all she could to help with the farming.
For several years, Mazie was an active member of the Rosie the Riveter organization. She loved meeting other Rosies from all over the country and attending the Rosie events.
She absolutely enjoyed family get togethers, and participating in Church/Worship Services. Mazie was a Pentecostal who stood on and trusted her faith in God no matter what was happening in her life.
Mazie was preceded in death by her best friend and husband, Wilbur; her parents, James and Virginia Preast; all 12 of her siblings; granddaughter Crystal R Nottingham; grandson Michael A Mullins and her nine stepdaughters.
She is survived by her three sons: Gerald (Trish) of Roane County; Darrell (Debby) of Clendenin; Clinton (Jill) of Clay County; three daughters: Ilene ( Mike) of Clay County; Kay (Van) of Elkview; Donna (Kevin) of Culloden. She is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was laid to rest in the Mullins Family Cemetery Wednesday, July 15, 2026. There will be a Celebration of Life & Home Going
Service at a later date for friends and family to honor Mazie and her life.
