Peggy Lynn McClanahan, 73, of Okeechobee, Florida, unexpectedly received her wings on January 14, 2026, to be with our Heavenly Father.
She was born July 14, 1952, in St. Albans, WV, to the late Lemuel Wesley and Audrey Ercyl (Womack) McClanahan. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Gary McClanahan and Larry McClanahan.
Peggy was an angel in life as her light, love, and compassion shined to everyone she met. She took care of everyone. She was an incredibly strong lady throughout her life.
Peggy was a wonderful wife, mommy, mamaw, and sister. She was full of love for her family and friends. She was an incredibly creative artist. She was “the best cooker ever,” and nothing compares to her love.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 31 years, James E. Dixon; daughter and best friend, Diana Cordell (Rob Wilkinson); grandson, Colton Cordell; granddaughter, Jessica Wilkinson; sister, Susan Clemens; step-daughter, Carolyn Dixon; special nephew, Jason “Buck” McClanahan; special niece, Jeannie Hodge; April “Thumper” Hayes; Angel McClanahan; Gary Lee McClanahan; and her four-legged baby, Luca.
A tribute to the life of Peggy will be 1:00 PM Saturday January 24, 2026 at Gatens-Harding Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Goff-McClanahan Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the funeral home.
