Toni Rae Hastings Boyd, 70, of Dry Branch, West Virginia passed away peacefully in her sleep on January 16, 2026. She was born on March 29, 1955, to the late Jack F. “Hemo” Hastings and Mary Lou Hodges Hastings.
She was a proud 1973 graduate of East Bank High School and retired from the West Virginia Division of Public Transit after more than 35 years of dedicated service, a career that reflected her commitment to helping others and her strong work ethic.
Toni is survived by her beloved son, Ryan Boyd of Cincinnati, Ohio; her sister, Tina Stone (Mike) of Charleston; her best friend of more than 50 years, Teresa Ferrell Glancy (Gary); and her cherished granddog, Oscar, who completely melted her heart in ways some never thought possible.
She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins, including Terri Williams McCallister, Barry Williams, Susan Hodges Carver, Jaime Hodges Foster, Amanda Stone Quimby, Janna Stone Petry, Ashley Hodges Hagar, Stacie Boyd Warner, Aaron Boyd, Lori Saylor, Ericka Saylor, Jared Boyd, Blaine Boyd, Brent Boyd, and Jessica Boyd Davis among many others.
Toni attended Dry Branch Independent Missionary Baptist Church, where she found a place of comfort, friendship, and belonging. In recent years, her church family became a special part of her everyday life. The love, prayers, visits, and simple moments shared meant the world to her and brought her peace and reassurance.
A passionate fan, Toni was an avid supporter of West Virginia University, especially football, men’s and women’s basketball, and the WVU Marching and Pep Band. Her loyalty to East Bank High School was just as strong. Before the school closed, she could always be found on Friday nights at Calvert Field or wherever the Pioneers were playing, cheering loudly and ringing her famous cowbell. During the 1998/1999 school year, she proudly co-organized the East Bank High School closing festivities alongside her dear friend Donna Kay Hodges Crowder, bringing the EBHS community together one final time.
Toni lived her life centered on caring for others, showing up when needed, and giving more than she ever expected in return. Genuinely selfless, Toni always put others before herself. After her mother’s passing, she lovingly continued her mother’s tradition of sending greeting cards, never missing birthdays, anniversaries, or moments of illness, so that family and friends always knew they were remembered and in her heart.
Above all, Toni was her son’s biggest fan, cheerleader, and constant source of love and encouragement. Her pride in Ryan was evident in everything she did.
In honoring Toni’s wishes, she will be cremated, and no viewing or services will be held. Those who wish to honor her memory are encouraged to do something kind for someone else, a simple act of generosity that reflects the way Toni lived her life.
Ryan would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Teresa and Gary Glancy for their love, care, and unwavering support of his mother during her final years. Their kindness and presence meant more than words can express.
Toni Rae Hastings Boyd will be remembered for her thoughtfulness, loyalty, quiet strength, and the countless ways she made others feel seen and loved. Her legacy lives on through the many lives she touched.
