Rex Lee Kuhl, 77, of Elkview departed this life Wednesday, January 28, 2026 at the Hubbard Hospice House in Charleston.
He was born August 17, 1948 in Gilmer Station, Braxton County, WV. Beloved son of the late, Junior and Vonda (Barnett) Kuhl. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Hazel Stewart.
Rex was a graduate of Glenville High School where he was Valedictorian of his class. He was also captain of the football, baseball and basketball teams. He went on to graduate from Glenville State College where he obtained a bachelor’s degree in science. He retired from Coates Field Services. He also worked for SGS Scientific Company as a salesman. Rex was a Christian, a wonderful husband, step-dad and son-in-law. He was a one-of-a-kind guy. He loved Jesus, his family and the beach – his happy place.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Karen Elain (McCormick) Kuhl; children, Dana Dawson, II and Amanda Nicole Starcher; sisters, Connie King (Gene) and Barbara King (Randy); grandchildren, Matthew, Michael, Katelyn, Madelyn and Dalainy; great grandchildren, Samuel and Wayde; brother-in-law, Buckey Stewart; cousin, Mickey Kuhl; friends, Mark Reger, Butch Fertig and Buck Wolf as well as a host of other family and friends.
Cremation has been observed. A celebration of life memorial service will be held at a later date.
