Herold Clyde Harbert, Jr., 73, of South Charleston departed this life Monday, February 9, 2026 at the Hubbard Hospice House with family by his side.
He was born February 5, 1953 in South Charleston, WV. A son of the late, Herold Clyde and Helen Lee (Jarrett) Harbert. Also preceding him in death are brother-in-law, Frank Fizer and niece, Rachel Fizer.
Clyde was a lifelong resident of South Charleston and an avid WVU fan. He loved hunting, fishing and camping. He was a good family man and a gentle giant. He will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved him.
Those left to cherish his memory include his beloved wife of 40 years, Miriam Connie (James) Harbert; daughter, Marie Barnes (Frank); sister, Tibby Harbert and her son, Micah Harbert; sisters-in-law, Cassie Taylor and Janie James; brothers-in-law, Will James and Mark James; friends who were like brothers, Mike Morris, Tim Good and Dale Case as well as a host of other nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
A celebration of Clyde’s life will be held at 4:00 PM., Saturday, February 21, 2026 at Good Shepherd Mortuary, South Charleston. Cremation has been observed and his ashes will be spread privately.
Family and friends will gather for a time of visitation one hour prior to the service at the mortuary.
