Ernie Joe Southers 71, of Clendenin went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at the Hubbard Hospice House in Charleston, WV.
Ernie enjoyed farming and took great pride in working on his property. Fishing was one of his favorite pastimes, and he appreciated the peace and quiet it brought. He also enjoyed watching classic western movies. He will be remembered for being hard-working and loving his family. He will be missed by everyone that knew him.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Southers, Sr, and Freda Southers; sisters, Barbara Southers, Patricia Stanley, Bonnie Young, and Rosemary Tinsley; along with his dog, Peanut who was with him for 17 years.
Ernie leaves behind his daughter, Jessica (Daniel) Reed; brother, Thomas (Norma) Southers; brother-in-law, Tim Tinsley; grandchildren, Meghan (David) Russell, Baylee (McCayla) Moles, Rodney (Jess) Stanley, and Coen Reed. He is also survived by great-grandchildren, Elliana, Paislee, Karsyn, Gracelynn, Storm, Skie, Aliyah, Karmen, and Remmington.
A memorial service will be at 7:00pm on Friday, February 13, 2026, at Hafer Funeral Home with Chaplain Ray Witmer III officiating.
Visitation will be from 5:00pm-7:00pm on Friday, February 13, 2026, at Hafer Funeral Home.
