Mr. Richard Lee “Slick” Saunders, 64, of Poca, passed away February 26, 2026.
Slick was a hardworking laborer who took pride in an honest day’s work. He loved being outdoors, whether it was enjoying the fresh air or tinkering under the hood of a car. He had a special talent for fixing things and a passion for working on vehicles. Above all, he dearly loved his dog, Sarge, who was his constant companion.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Doodle and Emogene Saunders, and his brothers, Keith Saunders and Rex Allen Saunders.
Left to cherish his memory are his son, Ricky (Jessica) Saunders, and their son, Jace; his three sisters, Zelma (George) Woodrum, Brenda (Bill) Sigman, and Sharon (J.T.) Shaw; his brother, Charles Saunders; his special friend, Ashley Eads; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, family members, and friends.
A tribute to the life of Slick will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, March 4, 2026, at Gatens-Harding Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Ortin Heights Cemetery, Nitro. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.
