Lonnie Scruggs, 84, of St. Albans, passed away, Friday, February 27, 2026, surrounded by family.
She was born on December 30, 1941, in Oak Hill, WV. She was the beloved child of William and Hazeltine Gwinn.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Scruggs, son, Keven Scruggs, and sister, Connie Duff.
She worked in the medical field until her retirement in 2001. Outside of work she had a passion for cooking and was known for her hotdog chili. She had a love for animals, especially her faithful miniature pinscher, Lacy. As the matriarch of the family, she loved to host family gatherings and share memories around the kitchen table. She will be remembered for her love and devotion to her family, her infectious laugh, and love of Hershey bars.
She is survived by her devoted daughter whom cared for her before her passing, Jenny Shorter (Gary) of Charleston, son Nick Scruggs of Charleston, granddaughter Whitney Williams of Charleston, and sister Sherry Parker (Jim) of Florida.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
