Mildred Evelyn (Marshall) Carper, 93, of Elkview died on March 1, 2026 at Hillcrest Healthcare Center in Danville, WV, surrounded by her loving family.
Mildred was born in Akron, Ohio on May 15, 1932. She was married to her devoted husband of 76 years, John R. Carper. Mildred (Midge), was the daughter of Ruby Jewel (Morris) Musselman and John Marshall, and step-daughter of Robert Musselman. She is survived by her daughters Vicki Bartolini of Massachusetts ( Robert J. Bartolini) and Kathy Carper of Elview ( Sue Crawford). She was adored by her grandchildren Robert C. Bartolini of Massachusetts and Anna C. Bartolini of Massachusetts (Nicholas Capell) and her great granddaughter Rosemarie Capell of Massachusetts.
Midge was a proud graduate of Morris Harvey College’s (now University of Charleston) first registered nursing class. She worked many years as a nurse at MacMillan Hospital and then at CAMC General Hospital.
Midge and John were active members of the St. Andrew Presbyterian Church of Elkview.
A celebration of life will be begin 2:00pm, at St. Andrew Presbyterian Church in Elkview this spring, Saturday, April 11, 2026, with Jim Walther officiating.
Visitation will be from 1:00pm – 2:00pm at the church.
The family would especially like to thank the staff of the Hillcrest Healthcare Center in Danville for the kind and respectful care that Midge received.
