Mary Lunsfford Igo, 81, of Poca went Home to be with her Lord on March 16, 2026, after losing her battle with cancer.
Mary was a 1962 graduate of Nitro High School where she was a proud member of the NHS band and a majorette. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business Education 9-12 from West Virginia State College, and two Master’s degrees – one in Adult and Vocational Education and one in Education Administration from Marshall University. She was a teacher and data specialist for Putnam County Schools.
Mary was a Christian and a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church of Nitro where she served as a volunteer secretary, member of the Trustee Board and Deaconess Board, and Sunday School teacher.
Along with many interests, her favorites were reading, bowling, card-making, and quilting.
She was preceded in death by the love of her life, husband, Neil Igo, parents, Elizabeth Dean and Hugh Minor Lunsford; brother and sister-in-law Ciyde Owen (Buddy) and Vic Lunsford; sister and brother-in-law Loretta and Ken Kellogg; and sister and brother-in-law Martha and Jack Clendenin.
Mary is survived by her wonderful daughter and her friend, Kathi Dolin and Jay McIntyre of Teays Valley; grandson and wife, Zachary and Katrina Dolin of LaFollette, Tennessee; granddaughter and her friend Ami Dolin and Nick Sovine of Nitro,; her constant kitty companion, Simba, her church family, sewing (quilting) friends, bowling buddies, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and neighbors.
A Memorial Service will be held Friday, March 20, 2026, at 6:00 pm at the First Baptist Church of Nitro with Rev. Michael Perry and Rev. Bobby Goldsburg officiating. Visitation will be two hours before the service.
The family respectfully requested that in lieu of flowers contributions in her honor be made to First Baptist Church of Nitro, PO Box 248, Nitro, WV 25143
