Avis Orlando Daniels Sr.
Avis Orlando Daniels Sr., 73, of Weston, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 22, 2026, at WVU Medical Center in Morgantown, WV.
Born on November 12, 1952, in Charleston, he was the son of the late Maven Daniels Sr. and Lucy Beasley Daniels.
Avis proudly served his country in both the United States Air Force and the United States Army, retiring with the rank of Captain. He was a Gulf War veteran.
He was a member of the Universal Life Church and held several degrees in information technology. At the time of his passing, Avis worked as an IT Specialist for the Federal Bureau of Investigation in Fairmont, WV.
Avis had a great love for the outdoors. He enjoyed driving through the mountains, cross-country road trips, hiking, fishing, and woodworking. He was also an expert in computers and a member of a ham radio operators club.
Above all, Avis was known for his big heart, iron will, and willingness to help others. He was the best brother, husband, dad, and friend anyone could ask for.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his baby brother, Samuel Daniels; several aunts, uncles, and cousins; and his fellow military veterans.
He is survived by: His wife of 51 years, Mona Elswick Daniels; sons: Avis “Nick” Daniels II and wife Karla Daniels, and their daughter Nyssa Daniels-Bleazard; Christopher Daniels and wife Missy Daniels, and their children Brianna Daniels, Christian Daniels, and Harry Heck; sisters: Virginia Falls and husband Harley Falls, and Sheryl Pittman and husband Michael Pittman Sr.; brother: Maven Daniels, Jr and wife Michelle Daniels; and several nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.
Visitation will be held Thursday, March 26, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Hafer Funeral Home.
A graveside service will begin at 1:00pm, Friday, March 27, 2026, at Mapledale Cemetery, 202 O’Farrell Road, White Sulphur Springs, WV.
