Retta Mae Huffman, 91, of South Charleston, WV, went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, April 7, 2026, in her home after a short illness.

She was born in Clendenin, WV to the late Earl and Sybil Carte. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 69 years Otmer H. Huffman, her grandparents, Rev. Early and Nona Abbott, brother Danny Earl Carte, sisters, Anna Lee Carte, Joyce K Larch, and Josephine Fan Trace, her daughters, Linda Susan Hurt and Tammy Denese Huffman, granddaughter Katherine Joy Harvey and son-in-law Jeff Marion.

Retta attended Walton High School. She retired from G.C. Murphy Co. and Murphy Mart. She loved the WVU Mountaineers, Pittsburgh Steelers and the Buffalo Bills. She enjoyed spending a lot of her time at her home in Pocahontas County and camping at Lake Sherwood. She loved to sew and cook from scratch. She also enjoyed sitting on any front porch swing watching the hummingbirds come to her feeders.

Retta is survived by her sons, Richard Huffman of Colonial Heights, VA, and Jeff Huffman of South Charleston, WV, and her daughters, Carla “Kay” Rogers (Danny) of South Charleston, and Gloria Marion of Dickinson, TX; grandchildren, Sabrina Jefferson (Alonza), Michael Huffman, Chad Huffman (Danielle), Troy Huffman (Susan), Jodi Rogers, Nick Rogers (Malisha), Travis Marion, Anneka Luna, Alan Marion, Crystal Harvey, Matt Harvey, and Lyle Hurt (Christine); along with 26 great-grandchildren, and 8 great-great grandchildren.

Funeral Service will be on Monday, April 13, 2026, at 1pm at Stump-Matics Funeral Home, 8539 Elk River Road North, Clendenin, WV, with Pastor Jeff Nichols officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Memorial Cemetery on Abbott Road. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to service.
