Ruth Ellen (Boggs) Looney, 80, of Amma, WV, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, April 17, 2026, at Hubbard Hospice House in Charleston, WV surrounded by the love of her family after a brief illness.

Born January 6, 1946, Ruth’s life was rooted in faith, kindness, and steady devotion to others. She stood beside others in hard times and celebrated life’s joys with a full and generous heart. Her kindness and compassion left a lasting mark on everyone who knew her.

Throughout her life, Ruth was a faithful member of both Clendenin United Methodist Church and Wallback United Methodist Church, where she drew strength from her faith and cherished the fellowship of her church family. She found a quiet blessing in working with the youth, sharing sermons with her congregation, and participating in mission trips.

Ruth retired after more than 27 years of dedicated service as a nurse at CAMC Hospitals. In her retirement, she found joy in traveling, tending her garden, and most of all, spending time with her family and friends. These were the moments she treasured most, and the memories her loved ones will carry forward.

On June 13, 1962 Ruth married William Bruce Looney with whom she shared 64 years of love and partnership. She is survived by her devoted husband, William Looney; beloved daughter, Stephanie (Denny) McKinney; daughter-in-law Tracey Looney (widow of her late son, Daniel Looney); her cherished grandchildren who brought her great joy, Summer, Christie, Jacob, and Bridget (Cameron); great-grandchildren, Ansley, Emerson, Luca, Milo, Daniel, and Sullivan; along with a loving extended family and many dear friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Daniel Looney and several brothers and sisters.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Dementia Society of America in honor of Ruth Ellen Looney’s life and legacy.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday, April 22, 2026, at 5:00 p.m., at Stump-Matics Funeral Home, 8539 Elk River Road North, Clendenin, WV, with Pastor Leslie Gallian officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Online condolences can be shared with the Looney family at www.stumpfuneralhomes.com
