Rev. Robert Lee Shannon, 94, of Arnoldsburg, West Virginia, departed this life on April 23, 2026.
He was born October 5, 1931, to the late Hiram and Reva (Kittle) Shannon of West Virginia.
IN addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 57 years, Shirley Ann (Fullen) Shannon. Robert came from a large family, preceded in death by many brothers and sisters.
He is survived by his 5 children: stepson Ret. USAF Capt. Larry and wife Kathy Fullen, Fla; stepdaughter Ret. RN, Gail and husband Allen Smiley, Ohio; stepdaughter Kathy Montgomery, Ohio; son Ret. WT1. USN Gene Shannon and wife Linda, VA; and son Ret. Las Vegas Fire Capt. Robert Jr. and wife Christine Shannon, NV; as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Rev. Shannon was ordained to the preaching of the gospel by the Calvary Baptist Church in Warren, Ohio, on March 30, 1969. He was affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention. He will be remembered for his many mission works in which many churches have been started in Ohio.
Being a certified counselor, he attended Youngstown State and West Virginia University.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, at 1:00 p.m., at Stump Funeral Home & Cremation, Inc., 1440 Arnnoldsburg Road, Arnoldsburg, West Virginia 25234, with officiating. Visitation will be held two hours prior to the service, 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. Interment will follow in Eventide Cemetery, Spencer, WV, with full military honors.
