Gloria Mae Henson, 93 of South Charleston, WV went home to be with the Lord on Monday, April 27, 2026, in Dunbar, WV.
She was a born again Christian and was a faithful member of Bethel Baptist Church of South Charleston, WV for more than 30 years. She found great joy in playing the guitar and singing wherever she went, especially for her dear friends in Mary’s Garden. Every now and then she would brighten the day by yodeling for her friends, bringing smiles to everyone around her. She was also a proud member of the Ladies Oriental Shrine of North America. She lived a life of hard work and dedication, serving as a switchboard operator for The Woodrums in Charleston, and later working at Laird Office Supply in Charleston. She went on to become a realtor and managed apartment buildings for many years before retiring.
She will be remembered for her joyful spirit, her love for music, and the kindness she shared with those around her.
She is preceded in death by her first husband Marshall Crowder, Sr., her daughter Anita Kay Wilson, her great granddaughter Josephine Lynn Marler, great grandson Joshua Crowder, 4 brothers (Bill Myers, Stanley Myers, and Jack Dempsey Myers) and 1 sister (Evelyn). Father, Arch Channel Myers, and Mother Cora Myers. Her second husband, William V Henson.
She is survived by her son Marshall S Crowder, Jr. (Dolly Crowder), Gary M Crowder (Melva Crowder), daughter, Melanie Humphreys (Jay Humphreys), brother, Toby Myers, Son-in-law Darrell Wilson, 10 grandchildren, and 17 great grandchildren.
Graveside Services will be held at 2pm, Thursday, April 30, 2026, at Rock Cemetery, Little Sandy Rd., Elkview, WV, with Rev. Charles Shelton officiating. Burial will follow.
