Olin “Dean” Marks, 78, of Arnoldsburg, West Virginia, passed away in the evening on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, at WVU Camden Clark Medical Center, Parkersburg, WV, with family by his side following a short illness.

Dean was born November 28, 1947, in Millstone, WV, the son of the late Alfred “Fuzzy” and Orla E. Poling Marks.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brother, Stephen R. “Buck” Marks; sister, Betty “Booboo” Goff; son, Robbie Marks; daughter Deana; and two infant siblings, Junie and Patty.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Sandra Marks; two daughters, Terry Marks and Cindy (Jake) Boggs; sons, Phillip and Doughlas Marks; brothers, Jack (Janet) Marks, Rick (Roberta Bateman) Marks, Ernest “Ed” (Audra) Marks, Danny “Nub” (Shirley Ball) Marks, Joe B. Dean retired from the pipeline as a member of IUOE Local 132, best known for being “One of the best dozer operators around.” He had worked at numerous jobs throughout his life. Starting with oil rigs when he was young and moving on to pipeline later on, and a few years spent running his own timber company. He had numerous nicknames, depending on who you were talking to. From wimp, to Fred, Boss Hogg, Bobo, to Deal, and many others. But no matter what he was called, he will be fondly remembered by many. He also liked to farm; raising cattle, pigs, chickens, and a lot of other critters over the years.

Per his wishes, he will be cremated, and the family will have a celebration of life at a later date.
