Johnna Lynn Snodgrass, of Belle, WV, Lake Norman, NC, and Daytona Beach, FL passed away peacefully on June 16, 2026, at CAMC Memorial Hospital, surrounded by her loving family, following a long and courageous battle with Parkinson’s disease. She was 85 years old.
Born on April 14, 1941, Johnna was the daughter of the late John E. and Ethel Jackson. A proud graduate of Dupont High School’s Class of 1959, she was crowned Miss Dupont and was an accomplished majorette and twirler, earning first-place honors at the Kanawha Valley Majorette Festival for two consecutive years. She attended Marshall University, where she studied accounting.
After leaving college, Johnna married her high school sweetheart, Thaddious Joe Snodgrass. The couple began their life together in Nashville, TN while Joe attended Lipscomb University. During their time there, they welcomed their first child, Thad. They later returned to Belle, WV where they were blessed with two daughters, Shannon and Suzanne.
As her husband pursued a distinguished career in education and coaching, Johnna built a successful professional career of her own. She worked for Bell Atlantic before joining the City of Charleston, where she served as an Event Coordinator for 32 years. From 1994 until 2018, she also served as Chief Financial Officer of Rehab One, a physical therapy company owned by her daughter.
Johnna lived life with energy, determination, and enthusiasm. A passionate athlete, she enjoyed running, rollerblading, paddleboarding, jet skiing, and fitness training, always giving her very best effort. Johnna continued with these activities well into her seventies. She was widely recognized as one of the finest female slalom water skiers on the Kanawha River. She also had a deep love for animals, especially cats.
Above all else, Johnna’s greatest joy was her family. She enjoyed the lake and beach and traveling with her daughters. She was the matriarch of the family. She encouraged her children in their athletic, academic, and professional pursuits. The deepest sorrow of her life was the tragic loss of her son, Thad, who was killed by a drunk driver at the age of 16.
Johnna is survived by her devoted husband of 66 years, Thaddious Joe Snodgrass; her daughters, Shannon Snodgrass of Charleston, WV, and Lake Norman. NC and Suzanne Snodgrass of Charlotte, NC her brother-in-law, Phil Jenkins, sister-in-law Kathy Snodgrass, nephews John, George, and Phillip Jenkins, Chad Snodgrass, Brian, Darren and Nathan O’Dell; and nieces Lynn Marino, Kelly Clark, Gina Adkins, and Angie and Katie Snodgrass.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved son, Thad Snodgrass; her sisters, Demita Jenkins and Carolyn O’Dell. Brother in laws David Snodgrass and Max O’Dell.
A visitation will be held on Friday June 19, 2026 from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon, followed by a funeral service from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m., at Bible Center Church, 100 Bible Center Drive, Charleston, WV 25309. Interment will follow in Kanawha Valley Memorial Gardens, Glasgow. Arrangements are being handled by Fidler & Frame Funeral Home.

Johnna will be remembered for her love of an active lifestyle, beauty, smile, strength, determination, generosity, and boundless love for her family. Her legacy lives on through the countless lives she touched and the family she cherished so deeply.
