David Gross, 73, of Clendenin, West Virginia, went home to be with the Lord on July 1, 2026.

He leaves behind a legacy of steadfast faith, abiding love, and devoted service to his family, his

church, and his community.

David was a born-again Christian and a faithful member of Falling Rock Gospel Tabernacle. His

life was a reflection of his deep and abiding faith, not only in what he said, but in how he lived

each day. He had a servant’s heart, always ready to lend a helping hand, offer a kind word, or

quietly meet a need without recognition. He will be remembered as a man of humility, quiet

strength, strong convictions, and an unwavering love for his family.

For over 40 years, David was the proud owner and operator of Dave’s Body Shop. Through his

work, he built more than a business—he built lasting relationships and earned the trust and

respect of his community. He took great pride in his work and was known for his honesty,

dedication, and willingness to help others whenever he could.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Wanda (Sturgill) Gross, and his brother,

Donald Gross.

Left to cherish his memory is his beloved wife of 56 years, Barbara Gross, whose love and

companionship were the cornerstone of their life together. Their marriage was a beautiful

example of commitment, faith, and enduring love, and together they built a family grounded in

those same values.

He is also survived by his loving children, Tammie Gross, Tracie (Denny) Whittington, and Matt

(Julie) Gross. David took great pride in his children and found true joy in their lives, always

offering guidance, encouragement, and unconditional love.

He was a devoted grandfather to Nathan (Emily) Whittington, Austin (Cherrae) Whittington, Tate

(Ashton) Gross, Blake (Liza) Whittington, Chrissa Gross, Myranda Gross, Jaxon Gross, Ashley

O’Dell, and Cody (Angela) Lockhart, as well as several foster grandchildren who held a special

place in his heart. To them, he was a steady presence, a source of wisdom, and a constant

example of love and faith.

David was further blessed with many great-grandchildren: Jeremy, Salem, Sloan, Bates, Peyton, Jaylen, Lincoln, Gavin, Rylan, Hinsley, Brentlee, Addisan, Amelia, Declan, Beckett, Cora, Roxie, and Tucker, each of whom brought immense joy to his life. He is also survived by his brothers, Toby (Charlotte) Gross, and Jerry Gross, his sisters, Susan Barnhouse, Debbie (Don) Lilly, Kim (Tim) Belcher, and Sherri Keenan; along with several nieces and nephews, all of whom he loved dearly.

David will be fondly remembered for his unwavering faith, his selfless sacrifices, and the deep,

steady love he showed to his family and everyone around him. Though he will be greatly missed, his legacy will live on in the lives he touched, and his family takes comfort in knowing he is now at peace in the presence of his Savior.

Visitation will be on July 6, 2026, from 6pm to 8pm at Stump-Matics Funeral Home, Clendenin,

West Virginia. Funeral services will be held at Falling Rock Gospel Tabernacle, Elkview, West Virginia, on July 7, 2026, at 1:00pm with Pastor Tim Harper and Pastor Clarence Deel officiating. Interment will follow at Clendenin Memorial Gardens, Clendenin, West Virginia.

Arrangements are in the care of Stump-Matics Funeral Home, 8539 Elk River Road North, Clendenin, West Virginia 25045. Condolences can be shared with the Gross family at www.stumpfuneralhomes.com
