Mr. Charles Darren “Chance” Taylor, 47, of Poca, formerly of Romney, West Virginia, and Roanoke, Virginia, passed away on Saturday, July 25, 2026, at CAMC Teays Valley Hospital.
Chance was a man who found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He enjoyed cooking, trying his luck gambling, and, above all else, spending time with his family. He was a devoted sports fan who faithfully cheered for the Detroit Lions and Michigan State, celebrating every victory and standing by his teams through every season.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Nora Taylor, grandmother-in-law Elizabeth Bell Whitacre and sister in law, Shanda (Nikki) Kane.
Those left to cherish his memory include his beloved fiancée, Jerika Emswiller; his son, Jonathan Emswiller; his mother- and father-in-law, Leslie and Bill Emswiller; his brothers, Thomas Taylor and John Taylor; aunt Melissa Byrd; brother in law, Jimmy Kane; and his five nieces, Kaitlyn Taylor, Madison Taylor, Megan Merritt, Dakota Kane, and London Kane, along with many extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly.
In keeping with Chance’s wishes, there will be no services.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to the funeral home to assist with final expenses.
