John Roger Wood, 76, of Grantsville, West Virginia, went home to be with his Savior on August 4, 2026.
He was born on January 31, 1950, in Millstone, West Virginia, to John Guy Wood “Guy” and Velma Wood (Booher).
John is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Kathreen Hersman Wood of Grantsville, West Virginia, his daughter Chandra O’Connor (James) of Charleston, West Virginia, his son, Benjamin Wood (Ariel) of Mt. Zion, West Virginia, and five cherished grandsons. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Ronald Wood.
John graduated from Calhoun County High School in 1967. Before graduating, he began work at Parson’s Jewelry at the age of 16. He later worked at Mt. Zion Drive-In Theater, then Brannon’s Auto Shop in Arnoldsburg, and Eureka Pipeline. After dedicating 30 years of service, he retired from Consolidated Gas/Dominion Transmission. His strong work ethic and commitment to providing for his family were hallmarks of his life and legacy.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, August 8, 2026, at Stump Funeral Home, 107 Market Street, Grantsville, West Virginia, with Pastor Shelly Mace officiating.
