Sandra “Sandy” Mae Lovejoy Surface, 76 of Charleston, WV, went home to be with our Lord, Jesus Christ, peacefully Friday September 18, 2026, at CAMC General Hospital.
She was preceeded in death as the wife of the late Bradford Allen Surface Sr. and daughter of the late Romey C. Lovejoy Sr. and Betty Lou (Aldridge) Lovejoy. She was also preceded in death by her son (Bradford Allen Surface Jr.), brother (Robert P. Lovejoy), and a little angel granddaughter.
She is survived by son Benjamin Surface (Jessie) of South Charleston, daughters; Sara Jarvis (Greg Sample) of Charleston, Sharla Drake (Jonathan) of Elkview, grandchildren; Brad III, Dylan, Kassidy, Kadence, Kendall, McKenzie, Evan, Noah, Lucas, William, Jordan, and Serenity, sister Kathy (Jim) Parsley of Sissonville, brothers; Romey C. Lovejoy Jr. of St. Albans and Randy (Sue) Lovejoy of Winfield. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends whom she dearly loved.
Sandy was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (Charleston 2nd Ward) in Sissonville.
She was a strong, independent, caring, beautiful soul who lived life the fullest each day with a smile on her face and love in her heart for all. She enjoyed thrifting, crocheting, road trips, watching re-runs on tv, but most of all she loved spending time with her friends and family. She touched many lives through her caring and thoughtfulness. She always said, “to know me is to love me”, which is so very true. Everyone who knew her loved her dearly. She will be deeply missed, never forgotten, and forever in our hearts.
A service will begin 1:00pm, Tuesday, September 22, 2026, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Sissonville). Burial will follow at Surface-Shafer Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 12:00am – 1:00pm at the The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
