Carol K. Lucas, lovingly known as “Mousie,” was born on June 19, 1950, in Point Pleasant, West Virginia, to the late John and Trena McDermitt. She passed away at home on October 28, 2026, at the age of 76.

Carol was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She leaves behind a family who loved her dearly and will forever cherish the memories they shared with her.

She is survived by her loving husband, Leroy Lucas, and her children: Ketrina and Sheldon Gerlach, Kathy and JL Perry, JW Morrow, Michelle and Jamie Bishop, Cazzie Lucas, and David Lucas. She was a proud grandmother to 13 grandchildren and a loving great-grandmother to 10 great-grandchildren, all of whom brought great joy to her life.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents, John and Trena McDermitt, and her siblings: Jacqueline Lilly Turney, Welaunee Watson, Paul, Aaron, John Lewis, and Charles McDermitt.

Carol’s presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Though she is no longer with us, the love she gave, the memories she created, and the special place she held in the hearts of her family will live on forever.

A tribute to the life of Mrs. Carol Lucas will be held 3:00 PM Saturday October 31, 2026 at Gatens-Harding Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Russ Moore officiating.  Entombment will follow in Haven of Rest Memory Gardens, Red House. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the funeral home.
