Tuesday evening, January 13, 2026, Harold William Swisher, dear husband to Fern (Cochran) Swisher departed from his earthly body and entered into the glory of eternity with Christ. He was surrounded by the prayers and support of family members and good friends, with his only daughter by his side, as his faith became sight.
He was born May 21, 1923 in Berlin, WV. A son of the late, Harland Almond and Lilly Mabel (King) Swisher. Also preceding him in death are sister, Evelyn Mitchell; brothers, Ira, Haywood, Charles and Donnie Swisher; grandson, Andrew Wayne Swisher.
Harold was a member of the First United Methodist Church of South Charleston. He served his country in the US Army. He was a proud veteran of WWII in the major campaigns of Europe. He was a retired lineman with Verizon. He was a member of the Telephone Pioneers Club and installed lifelines for people in need. Harold had a great sense of humor and enjoyed making people laugh and smile no matter where he was. He was very well liked by everyone he met. He loved vegetable soup.
In addition to his loving wife those left to cherish his memory include his children, Harold Wayne Swisher (Mary Angela) and Renee Swisher (Michael); special friend, Bill Williams as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM., Saturday, January 17, 2026 at Good Shepherd Mortuary, South Charleston. Harold will be laid to rest in Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albans following the service.
Family and friends will gather for a time of visitation one hour prior to the service at the mortuary.
