Betty Jeanne (Greene) Pennington, 95, of Loudendale, WV., departed this life Sunday, January 11, 2026 at her son, Ed’s, residence in Lake Placid, FL., with family by her side.
She was born February 23, 1930 in Charleston, WV. A daughter of the late, Gerald P. and Eliza V. (Williams) Greene. Betty was married February 13, 1948 to the late, Harold E. “Pete” Pennington for 71 years. Also preceding her in death are two grandchildren, Garth Pennington and Kevin Stover.
Betty was a lifelong homemaker and civic leader in the Loudendale Women’s Club. She was also active in her local church, Loudendale Church of the Nazarene. She loved reading, gardening and was well known for her cinnamon rolls and peanut brittle. She and Pete spent many days competitively fishing and hunting. They traveled extensively in their camper, including three trips to Alaska. She spent the last seven winters in Okeechobee, FL., living next to her daughter Cindy.
Those left to cherish her memory include her loving children, H. Edward Pennington, Jr. (Betsy), Bruce Pennington (Kay), Sharon Pennington and Cynthia Toon (Cass); seven grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren as well as a host of other family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM., Tuesday, January 20, 2026 at Good Shepherd Mortuary, South Charleston with her nephew, Rev. Keith Hostutler officiating. Betty will be laid to rest in Graceland Memorial Park, South Charleston following the services.
Family and friends will gather for a time of visitation one hour prior to the service at the mortuary.
