Norva June Shafer, 87, went to be with the Lord on February 17, 2026. She was born on January 2, 1939, to the late Fred “Dutch” and Maysel Smith.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 53 years, Harold Shafer; her brothers, Bill Smith and Bob Smith; and her granddaughter, Alysha Kennedy.
Norva was a dedicated employee of the Diamond Department Store. She was an active member of the Three Mile Busy Homemakers Club and faithfully attended and served alongside her husband in many churches throughout the area during his years of ministry. Her faith, kindness, and servant’s heart touched many lives.
She is survived by her loving daughters, Trena Kennedy (Randy) of Elkview and Tresa Shafer of Cottageville; her cherished grandchildren, Scott Kennedy (Cathy) of Sissonville, Michael Kennedy (Jheri Beth) of Elkview, and Holly Mollohan (Ray) of Big Otter; and her treasured great-grandchildren, Lane, River, Easton, Lilly, Stetson, Jameson, Fenton, and Elsie. She is also survived by her sister, Opal Hanshaw Derrick(Jim) along with many nieces, nephews, and extended family members who will dearly miss her.
Norva will be remembered for her unwavering faith, her devotion to her family, and the love and warmth she shared with everyone who knew her.
A service will begin 1:00pm, Saturday, February 21, 2026, at Hafer Funeral Home, with Pastor Roy Boyd officiating. Burial will follow at Elk Hills Memorial Park.
Visitation will be from 12:00pm – 1:00pm at the funeral home.
