James Floyd Burke
James Floyd Burke, 82, of Elkview, WV passed away on February 21, 2026, after a long illness.
He was born on April 13, 1943, and worked for Charleston Housing Authority from 1967-1998, retiring after 31 years of service. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, flea markets, and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Georgia Chandler Burke; son, Brent Burke; daughters, Jamie Ratliff (Keith), Melissa Hill (Steve), and special daughter Sarah Shamblin (Chad); Grandchildren, Lexie, Brynn, Caleb and Elijah.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Luke and Clara Burke; siblings, Edward Burke, John Burke, Sylvia Duvall, Golda Carter, and Violet Wright.
A graveside service will be at 1:00pm on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, at Sunset Memorial Park in South Charleston with Pastor Lynn Walker officiating.
