Inez Delora Durham Lucas was born on October 24, 1929 in Bellburn, Greenbrier County, West Virginia, to parents Rev. Harry Durham and Lulla Mullins Durham.
She grew up and lived her entire life on Witcher Creek. She accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior when she was 12 years old and spent her life in faithful service to Him. She graduated from DuPont High School in 1947. She married Paul Eugene Lucas on December 29, 1947. Together, they had six children and celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary prior to his passing. She worked at Belle Bank and Charleston National Bank for a total of 26 years. She loved her family, friends, and neighbors, and loved to cook for anyone that she thought had a need. Above all else, she loved her Lord Jesus. She was a faithful member of Beulah Independent Missionary Baptist Church and used her gifts to share Christ with everyone she met.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Lulla Durham; husband, Paul Eugene Lucas; brother, Jay Walter Durham and granddaughter, Tennille Davis.
She is survived by her brother, Keith Durham; sister, Stella (Jimmy) Winter; sons, Steve Lucas, Jimmy Lucas; daughters, Kathy (Stan) Durrett, Shanda (Dwight) Smith, Barbara (Tony) Andrew, Robin (Jim) Hull and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
The family requests in lieu of flowers donations be made to Beulah Independent Missionary Baptist Church, 5105 Witcher Creek Road, Belle, West Virginia 25015.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 25, 2026 at Beulah Independent Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Tony Rumburg officiating. Interment will follow in Witcher Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 hours before service time at the church on Wednesday.
