Peggy Gay Sparks, 89, passed away peacefully on April 16, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of faith, service and devotion to her family, church and community.
Peggy was a faithful Christian whose life reflected her deep love for the Lord. She was a devoted member of Diamond Baptist Church, where she shared her musical talents as both a pianist and organist for many years.
Through her music, she brought comfort, joy and inspiration to countless worship services and special occasions.
In addition to her ministry, Peggy dedicated many years of service as a secretary at Midland Trail Elementary School. She was known for her kindness, reliability and the warm, welcoming presence she provided to students, staff and families. Her gentle spirit and caring nature left a lasting impression on all who knew her.
She is proceeded in death by her parents, Tom and Carrie Gay of Diamond and her husband, Buren Sparks.
She is survived by son, Scott Sparks (Linda) of Witcher; daughter, Cindy Sparks Schilling (Scott) of Chelyan; brother, Thomas Gay of Danville, Virginia; granddaughters, Taylor Sparks, Emily Clay, Lauren Sparks and Jenna Henegar and many other cherished family members and friends who will miss her dearly and cherish memories of her.
A celebration of Peggy’s life will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 20, 2026 at Fidler and Frame Funeral Home, Belle with Rev. Rick Purlsey officiating. The family will have private time until 10:30, at which time the doors will be opened to visitors.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that acts of kindness be done in her memory.
She was deeply loved and will be greatly missed.
