Michael Allen Holbein

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Michael Allen Holbein on Wed, April 22nd, 2026 after a short illness however we are comforted that he is with his Lord and Savior.

Michael was raised in Columbus, Ohio “Go Bucks” and later moved to WV where he met and married his loving wife Vicki Lynn-Holbein. Michael was actively attending McCorkle Freewill Baptist Church in Sod, WV where he rededicated his life to the Lord after being saved as a young child. Michael loved to spend time with his family and friends whether it be traveling, playing Texas Hold’em with his poker buddies, or Mexican train with his dear friends and family. He was a volunteer once a month at the Friday Night Jams at Elk Community Center and was affectionally known as the “Popcorn Man”. He would have given his last dollar to someone in need and loved to surprise someone with a free meal at a restaurant. Michael worked for United Healthcare as a Customer Service Rep for over 20 years and served on the USS Carl Vinson in the Navy.

Michael is preceded in death by his parents, Ronald Holbein and Janet “Barron” Holbein, sister Nancy Funk, half-brothers Mark and David Staten

He is survived by his wife of 19 years Vicki Lynn-Holbein with a total of 27 years together, Sons; Mike (Brittany)Holbein, Mark Holbein, like a son Mason Holbein, Daughters; Kaytie (Allen) Oney, Kiran (Jessica) Holbein. Grandchildren; Owen Holbein, O’Brien Holbein, O’Neal Holbein, Braxston Oney, and Avalyn Grace Oney, Siblings; Fred Holbein, half-brothers Ron Holbein, Randy Richter, Ronda Massie, step sister Tammy Griffith, half-sisters; Gina Gill, Ronae Holbein, and best friend Brian Hampton.

In lieu of flowers please send donations in memory of Michael Holbein to the Elk River Community Center 107 Main Street, Elkview, WV 25071 Attn: Lynn Walker.

Services will be 1:00 pm Tuesday, April 28th, 2026 at Hafer Funeral Home with Pastor Isaiah Hatfield officiating. Burial will be at Elk Hills Memorial Park, Big Chimney.

Viewing will be from 11am to 1pm Tuesday, April 28, 2026 at the funeral home.
