It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Vivian Marie Rader Greene, who left this world peacefully at her home on April 29, 2026, at the age of 92. Born on July 2, 1933, in the picturesque town of Camden on Gauley, West Virginia, Vivian was a cherished daughter of Lewis William Rader and Ruth Mae Long Rader.
Vivian’s life was a testament to love, resilience, and the simple joys of sharing moments with family. She was the beloved wife of James A Greene, with whom she shared a beautiful marriage that began on August 14, 1951. They lived in Crupperneck,Summersville, Smithers,Beckwith,Nitro and St Albans. Together, they spent countless hours exploring parks, enjoying their camp, and visiting their children, creating memories that will be cherished forever.
A proud graduate of Richwood High School, Vivian dedicated her early years to being a nurturing stay-at-home mother. Her devotion to her family was unwavering, and when her children had grown, she sought to extend her care to others by pursuing a career as a Certified Nursing Assistant. For over 25 years, Vivian worked diligently, offering her compassion and kindness to those in need.
Vivian was preceded in death by her loving parents, Lewis and Ruth Rader, brothers Lester (Tom)Rader, William (Bill)Rader , and Arthur Rader, sisters Barbara Burkart and Patsy McClung, and her dear granddaughter Amanda (Jesse) Lilly.
Her legacy of love continues through her surviving son James Lewis Greene (Denise), Daughters Sheila Faye Williams, Terry Ruth Hypes (Lewis) and Sherry Gail Lilly.
Grandchildren Matthew Greene (Karen), Justin Greene, Gabe Greene (Misty), Jeremy Barnett, Daniel Hypes, Jacob Lilly. Great grandchildren Colton Tolley, Trent Greene (Angela) Ava Greene, Ella Greene, & Chole Greene. Great Great Granddaughter Penelope Greene.

Known for her sweet personality and quick wit, Vivian’s love for animals and travel brought joy to those around her. A devout woman, she found great joy in discussing the Bible, a testament to her deep faith and spiritual strength.
Vivian’s family extends their heartfelt gratitude to those who offered their support and care during her final days. Brenda Comer, Vickie Baldwin, Marge Bundash, and her special friend Wayne, who stayed by her bedside through many nights, brought comfort and companionship. The compassionate caregivers from Hospice, Shannon, Ben, Jennifer, and Pastor Pete, ensured her transition was as peaceful as her life was meaningful.
A short visitation will be held May 5, 2026, 1 PM at Cooke Funeral Home, located in Cedar Grove, WV.
Graveside service 2:pm at Kanawha Valley Memorial Gardens, Glasgow
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to the Hospice House, an organization that provided immense support and care during her final journey.
