Paul “Abe” Rush, 84, of Parkersburg, WV, passed away May 3, 2026, at home surrounded by his family.
He was born April 6, 1942, a son of the late James Rush and late Zella Murphy Cottrell.
Abe was a simple man, a man of Christ, and an outdoorsman who loved to plant his garden.
Surviving Abe are his daughter Frances Phillips (Kevin); son James Rush; son Ronnie Rush; grandchildren Kevin Jack Phillips, Michael Rush, Lillian Phillips and great- grandson Lucas Rush; brothers, Scottie (Margaret) Rush and Shirley Rush both of Crummies Creek, WV; Charles Rush and Earnest Rush both of Mt.
Zion, WV; sisters, Gladys Roupe of Barberton, Ohio; Goldie Green of Uniontown, Ohio; Helen (Roscoe) Rogers of Spencer, WV; Mine Lou (Ordie) Rogers of Chloe, WV; Vine Sue (Clearance) Rush of Arnoldsburg, WV; Opal Gay (Rick) Horsley of Spencer, WV; and Nelsie Juanita Rush of Orma, WV; and several nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents, Abe is preceded in death by his brother Allen Rush, infant brother Okey Rush, and sister Phyllis Cottrell.
A funeral service will be held at Stump Funeral Home & Cremation, Inc., 1440 Arnoldsburg Road, Arnoldsburg, WV 25234 on Friday, May 8, 2026, at 12:00 p.m., with Rev. Brad Puckett officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow on the family farm, Ridge Top Cemetery, near Murraysville, WV.
