Leonard Allen “Lenny” Johnson, 58, of Charleston, West Virginia, passed away unexpectedly on June 5, 2026.
Born on July 10, 1967, in Charleston, West Virginia, Lenny was the son of the late Garnet D. Johnson and Sally Johnson.
Lenny was a man who never met a stranger. He had a deep passion for music and singing and could often be found sharing a song, telling a story, or making those around him laugh. He loved spending time with family and friends, reminiscing about old times, sharing funny memories, and enjoying the simple moments that brought people together. His sense of humor, larger-than-life personality, and ability to entertain a room will be remembered by all who knew him.
More than anything, Lenny cherished the people he loved. Whether through laughter, conversation, or simply being present, he left an impression on countless lives and created memories that will be carried forward by those fortunate enough to know him.
In addition to his parents, Lenny was preceded in death by his brother, Steve Mays, and his sister, Darlene Barrett.
He is survived by his loving wife, Norlene Johnson; his beloved daughter, Shanna Marie Johnson; daughter Sonya Hawkins, son Gregory Smith, his brothers, Bobby Johnson, Thomas Johnson, and Sam Johnson; his sisters, Pam Jarrell (Dave) and Dottie McCracken; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will forever cherish his memory.
Though our hearts are heavy with his passing, we find comfort in the laughter he shared, the music he loved, and the memories he leaves behind. Lenny’s spirit will live on in the stories told around family gatherings, in the songs that remind us of him, and in the love he gave to those closest to him.
A tribute to the life of Lenny will be 7:00 PM Monday June 15, 2026 at Gatens-Harding Funeral Home Chapel with Lenny’s brother Bobby officiating.
Friends may visit at the funeral home 1 hour prior to the service from 6-7 PM.
