Carmel Gene Goodrich, 81, passed away peacefully on June 24, 2026.

Born in Rosedale, West Virginia, on January 15, 1945, Carmel was the son of George

and Birdie Goodrich. He spent most of his life in West Virginia, where he worked for

many years as an equipment operator. Outside of work, he enjoyed horseback riding,

camping, boating, logging at the sawmill with his dad and using the lumber to build his

family’s home, and hunting.

In his later years, Carmel moved to Ohio, where he spent time with his family and

friends who knew him as “Pap.” He enjoyed home cooked meals, looking for deer and

other wildlife out the window, chuckling at the kids and dogs running around, handing

out cookies and jelly beans, and watching every classic Western he could find. He had

a mischievous sense of humor, loved to tease those he cared about, and always

enjoyed telling a good story. His presence will be missed dearly by those who loved

him.

He is survived by his children Jeffrey (Lisa) Goodrich and Jennifer (David) Jett; his

former wife, Helena Goodrich; his grandchildren Justin (Lauren) Price, Jeffrey (Colleen)

Goodrich, Kendra (Kyle) Zacour, Kaylea (Nickolaus) Henderson, Maryn (Timothy)

Stone, Marley Jett (Hunter Cichon), and Landri Jett; and his great-grandchildren Reese,

Porter and Emmitt Price, Sophia and Sadie Goodrich, Bennett and Graysen Zacour, and

Jett and Eli Henderson; and extended family and friends who loved him dearly. He is

preceded in death by Judith Meadows; and his siblings Lenora (Don) Cottrell, Violet

(Lee) Murphy, Ermal Webb, Billy (Mary Sue) Goodrich, and Bruce Goodrich.

A funeral service will be held Monday, June 29, 2026, at 2:00 p.m., at Stump

Funeral Home & Cremation, Inc., 1440 Arnoldsburg Road, Arnoldsburg, WV 25234,

with Rev. Roger Carter officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

Interment will take place immediately after at Mount Zion United Methodist Church

Cemetery. Fond memories and words of comfort can be shared with the Goodrich

family at www.stumpfuneralhomes.com
