Michael H. Robinson, 76, of Stafford, Virginia, passed away July 11th, 2026 in a climbing accident in Seneca Rocks, West Virginia. Born May 17th, 1950 in Deer Lodge, Montana to Charlie and Beth Robinson, he was the second of their three children.
Mike will be remembered for his generosity, warmth, extensive multi-faceted community involvement, and his dedication to his role as a loving husband, present & active father, and exceptionally devoted grandfather.
In his youth, Mike was a skilled football player and wrestler and still holds records for competitive swimming in his home state of Montana. After earning a Bachelor’s of Science from the University of North Dakota, he worked as a respiratory therapist before enlisting in the Navy during the Vietnam war as a hospital corpsman. He was an avid reader and trivia buff who instilled a lifelong love of learning in his children and grandchildren.
A skilled outdoorsman and adventure enthusiast, Mike was passionate about whitewater canoeing, rock climbing, ice climbing, paddleboarding, snowboarding, and skiing. As the founder and advisor of Venture Crew 84 for over three decades, he reveled in passing his knowledge on to future generations.
Mike’s reverence for nature was evident in his dedication to educating his community on the utmost [a][b] outdoor safety and conservation[c]. He served his neighbors as a mountain and river guide, encouraging lifelong respect for the environment.
Tirelessly active in his community, Mike organized an outreach program to deliver firewood to those in need, was a committed volunteer and organizer for American Legion Post 290 events and shared his talents in carpentry through building homes for community members. He was a lifetime member of the VFW and an member of Post 3103 in Stafford, Virginia.
He is preceded in death by his sons, Kelly James (K.J.) and Casey Jerome (C.J.) and parents Charlie and Beth Robinson. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Linda Robinson, his daughter Katie Robinson-Jones, his granddaughters Cassie Robinson, Kelly Jones, and Julia Jones, and his sisters Audrey Smith and Charleine Robinson.
Graveside Committal Services will be held at 11:00 AM., Wednesday, July 15, 2026, at Spring Hill Cemetery, Charleston with Rev. Jeremy D. Brown officiating, where Mike will be laid to rest.
